Hello dear readers, sorry for the almost week break from giving you the content you crave every day. I figured with the holidays I would take a break from writing on my blog, give you all a break from reading whatever I wrote, and plan out what I want to do for the next little while.
The idea to review my own blog came to me just last night, and I really liked it. I think it’s a good chance for me to do a bit of soul searching and give you my honest opinions on what I think of On My Bookshelf.
If I had to be blunt about my opinions on my blog, I’d say I am not totally happy. I love writing the content, and interacting with people on my posts, but I am not happy with my level of commitment.
I want my life to focus a little more on my reading and writing. I want to pour more of my soul and myself into my writing for On My Bookshelf.
I too often find myself writing posts the day they go up, most times moments before they do.
I want to finish them early, giving myself plenty of time to make them better, instead of rushing just to get them out.
This is probably the biggest issue I have with myself/my blog. I know the writing could be more insightful, which I also plan on working towards, but I think giving myself more time to write will give me the chance to be more insightful.
I am extremely happy I started this blog, and I want it to grow, so 2020 is going to be the year I stick to my goals. I plan on doing everything in my power to reach those goals (which I will write about on Thursday) and make On My Bookshelf more succesful than it already is.
It won’t be easy, that I am sure about, but I want to test my commitment and see what I can do.
I’m also not impressed with how On My Bookshelf looks. I went through a re-design a few months ago, and initially I loved the new look, but the more and more I look at it, the more I realize it just doesn’t feel right.
It doesn’t give of the same feeling that I want it to, and it just doesn’t quite seem to fit.
I’ve only had my logo since late 2018, so I am not sure I will change it up just yet, but I definitely want a new look to the blog, and possibly a little “mascot” to go along with it.
I don’t want to get too deep into what I want to achieve for the blog in 2020, because that is more of my goals which will come on Thursday.
I don’t totally love On My Bookshelf, but I am getting there. I think little by little, if I keep changing things to see what works, I will eventually find the On My Bookshelf that I am happy with.
