Writing Update: January 12, 2021

I didn’t write as much this week as I had hoped. I try to write every day, but some days I get preoccupied with other things that I forget to write until after 10:00 p.m. and at that time I can feel my body wanting to relax and my mind would not be focused enough.

On the weekends I try to dedicate a much greater time to writing, sometimes three or four hours straight. I didn’t hit that this week, but I think I got some quality writing in.

I went into the book with a few different POVs in mind, and I already had a favourite character in mind. That quickly changed by the first few chapters. I’m excited to explore these characters more as the story continues.

I need to find a way to speed up my writing process. I don’t really know at what speed other authors write their books, but I am averaging about a chapter a week. Even with my rough estimates, that means I’ll have this book done in a year and a half.

It’s been hard writing my own story, but I can already see the benefits. I have noticed some changes in my writing, and the creative ideas I have come up with have been exciting. I already have a number of projects in mind for the future that I am ready to start.

Have you been writing this week? How is going for you? I’d love to talk to other writers about their writing journeys.
